چکیده

The lifetime degradation induced by light illumination or carrier injection which is observed in Czochralski-grown silicon (Cz-Si) leads to a significant decrease of solar cell efficiency. In this paper, realistic simulations of industrial type solar cells are performed by a simple empirical expression describing bulk lifetime as a function of the doping concentration. The optimal doping concentration leading to maximum stable cell efficiency has been modeled using this empirical expression. Finally we verified the theoretical predictions for the industrial cell structure with solar cells fabricated by Deutsche Cell on boron-doped Cz-Si. Continuous process optimizations have lead to cell efficiencies in the degraded state of up to 16.7 %.
